LACTOFREE PARTNERS DEVON WILDLIFE CENTRE

Lactofree, the UK’s only range of lactose-free dairy products,

has welcomed a new face to help raise awareness of lactose intolerance in its new TV advertising campaign.

Introducing Madison the lactose intolerant hedgehog – tipped to be the latest phenomenon since Sonic!

In the ad Madison, epitomising a lactose intolerant person, makes her way through a hedgehog size supermarket and looks glum as she has to resist delicious options in the dairy aisle, such as cheese on toast and cream lathered cakes.  But joy!  After some helpful advice through the supermarket tannoy, all is not lost as Madison realises there’s no need to miss out on mouth-watering dairy with Lactofree. Suddenly she sees all the lovely treats are back on the menu and she can finally Say Yes To dairy!

It is hoped that Madison, while raising an important issue for humans who are lactose intolerant, may also raise awareness for her own loveable species.

Stephanie Hutton from the Devon Wildlife Centre comments: “Since all hedgehogs are lactose intolerant by nature we would urge people never to leave out saucers of any milk for them. As with some humans, the lactose present in it is more than their tiny stomachs can take!” She advises: “If you want to help your local endangered hedgehogs, we recommend you make your garden a more inhabitable space for them to live in – they will find their favourite dinner treats by themselves!”
